Mike Scott's Campaign Announcement
AUBURN, ME - On Wednesday, January 7, Mike Scott announced his candidacy for Maine State Senate District 20, which includes the City of Auburn and the towns of Durham, New Gloucester, and Poland.
Mike Scott has spent a distinguished 30-year career as a firefighter, dedicating his life to protecting his community and mentoring the next generation of first responders. A long-time union leader, including service as President of the Professional Firefighters of Maine, Scott has been a strong advocate for firefighter safety, fair labor practices, and the well-being of his fellow workers. In February, he will retire from the Auburn Fire Department and begin a new chapter of public service, seeking to represent his community in the State Senate.
“I’ve spent my career helping others and keeping my neighbors and community members in Auburn and across our region safe,” said Mike Scott. “I’m not a career politician; I come from a background of showing up early, working hard, and getting the job done. I’m running for the State Senate to make life better for retirees, families, and workers by keeping costs down, making sure people can access quality healthcare, and supporting the people who keep our communities running. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work.”
“Mike has devoted his life to serving Auburn and our region,” said Mayor Jeff Harmon of Auburn. “From his years as a firefighter to his work supporting first responders, he always puts the community first. I’m proud to support him for the State Senate. He knows how to keep our towns safe and strong, and he will fight for families, workers, and retirees in Augusta.”
“As a fellow union member, I’ve seen how much Mike cares about his community and the people who work hard every day,” said Rep. Kilton Webb, D-Durham. “Durham and our surrounding towns will be well served by his steady leadership and dutiful approach. I would be honored to call him my State Senator.”
“Mike Scott has spent his life serving others with integrity and dedication,” said Senate President Mattie Daughtry, D-Brunswick. “I’m thrilled that he is running for the State Senate and look forward to seeing him bring that same focus and steady leadership to Augusta, where he will be a strong voice for working families, retirees, and communities across the district.”
Mike lives in Auburn with his wife, Tammy. He has built a reputation for courage, steady leadership, and dedication to the safety and well-being of his community. Now running to represent Senate District 20, he is committed to bringing integrity, accountability, and a strong sense of service to the State Senate. Senate District 20 includes the city of Auburn and the towns of Durham, New Gloucester, and Poland.
